Acrylic on canvas, 16 x 20". I've sat at practice and done numerous sketches of Jonathan Toews, but I never got to the portrait painting stage. This image was painted and used at auction for Jon's Charitable golf event the "Sizzlen Summer Golf Tournament". I used acrylic gouache on the large portrait face and standard acrylic on the simplified, stylized action image. My desire was to create a painterly image in the portrait which would still hold up as the subject of the composition competing against an abstract 'storm' in the background and a rich-hued action figure in the foreground.
